Balayage Round 2

I haven't been blogging much as I have been insanely busy at work and posting pictures of suits everyday is pretty boring. I have managed to have some me time though and got my second round of balayage and microdermabrasion on the weekend. I have uneven skin tone and decided to book microdermabrasion on a whim but ended up loving it (I know I'm late on the bandwagon). I think the results were pretty good for the first one and I am going to go back next week for a second round so will see how that turns out.

Has anyone had a full course of microdermabrasion? How did you find the results?

I got the Balayage done Thursday but was really unhappy with the results so called and they redid it on Saturday. They were really lovely about it and I think it was just a miscommunication. The roots are still a bit dark (I am an ash blonde naturally) but next time he is just going to Balayage them so it will be lighter with a little less contrast.

Here is the pic, its a little awkward I know but you get the jist.

Ahoy there!

Striped top and leather skirt both Scanlan and Theodore, Bag Vintage (it was my grandmothers so I absolutely treasure it)

Tag!

The lovely Alexandra  has tagged me in a make up post, so here are a few pics of my relatively uninspired make up collection with the tag.

How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
Not exactly sure but I do remember some misguided efforts trying to use my mother’s pale eye shadow as concealer for blemishes in early high school.

How did you get into makeup?
I had a part time job in school at a pharmacy that had Lancome, Clinique, Lauder and Clarins counters. I became addicted to Lancome and spent most of my modest pay check on it.

What are some of your favorite brands?
Chanel, Nars, Stila and Ellis Faas

What does makeup mean to you?
Nothing too serious, just some fun or a bit of extra pep.

If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?
Mascara, Shellac, foundation and lip stain.

What is your favorite thing about makeup?
That you can make yourself look completely different according to your mood (very appealing for someone very fickle like myself)

What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?
It depends on the product, for bases and primers I really do think investing the money is worth it, but for trend based make up and colours I think all that’s needed is an easy trip to priceline.

What is one tip or advice you can give to a beginner?
I am not really the person to be giving tips, but my advice would be have fun with it, and if in doubt consult the abundance of make up gurus on the web.

What is one makeup trend you never understood?
Full fake lashes, I am yet to see them look natural or flattering on anyone.

What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?
I am in awe of them, I am pretty inept myself with make up so I find it really intriguing watching people completely reinvent themselves on you tube.

Ok, so I tag

What, this old thing?

Going out for drinks and a casual dinner tonight with a few friends so here are a few snaps of what I am wearing. It's the same top as I posted recently but I decided to dress it up a little more.

I absolutely love my Givenchy boots, they are my fav shoes. I have worn them so much all the leather has worn away on the laces to this white stringy stuff.

The shirt is from China Town, Dress is by Bally (its actually half the dress I just take the top bit off sometimes), Bag by Chanel and Givenchy Boots.

The Mathematics of Retail Therapy

I have been keeping an eye out for a neutral bag for summer for ages without much luck. I really want something I can wear with both pastels and tan/darker brown shoes and clothes. So far I have narrowed it down to the Miu Miu Bow Satchel and the Chloe Darla Bag. The research was collated by a team of experts and put into this very professional looking chart. The results of the scoring system (negative one point for a con, plus one point for a pro) were then put into the pie chart.

So with the 50/50 outcome you can see my trouble.
Does anyone have a preference or better yet another option? I am sure the perfect bag is out there somewhere!

My Mecca

I have nearly unpacked and got my wardrobe in order so thought I would post a few pics, its kind of a triangle shape so I couldnt get a pic of the whole thing, just each individual side.

The left side, dresses, tops, shirts and most of my shoes (they are all black and neutral except one pair so I plan on buying some really bright ones this summer).

I love black hangers

Most of my bags on the top thrown everywhere
It has this strange shelf thing in the middle so I just keep my sunnies there and a few random mags

The right side skirts, jackets and jeans up the top. The wardrobe has those rows of hooks everywhere so I keep belts on one, scarves on another and this one is just random things but I keep my Nightingale and 2.55 reissue there because I use them heaps.

I also bought this handy freestanding mirror/jewellery organiser thing at some dodgy "everythings cheaper!" shop (it cost 300...cheaper my a**).

Excuse the finger smudges and laundry in the background.

Shorts and Shopping

Sunday was great weather again so decided to take the new shorts for a spin and went to do a bit of wandering around shopping in the sun. Unfortunately (or fortunately for my finances) I couldnt find anything and went home purchaseless.

Wearing Country Road Camisole, Sportsgirl Shorts and Nicholas Kirkwood shoes ( I had to change into flats pretty quickly).

Was tempted by this Ellery Blazer Dress which was such a lovely fit but it was such a summery day I couldn't bring myself to buy a black structured dress....I am tempted to go back and get it though.

EDIT: Added a web image of my kirkwoods as I forgot to take a close up of them. I absolutely love them even if they are near impossible to walk in

A Glimpse of Sun

We have finally had a few glimpses of sunlight so to commemorate the occasion I grabbed the denim shorts and took a few pics before work this morning (not the best photos sorry, lens is still getting fixed and I was in a bit of a rush).

Sass and Bide Tee, Dotti Shorts, Morrissey Sunnies and a shirt I bought from Chinatown.
P.S I really need to figure out how to stop looking so grumpy in pics, I am not p*ssed off I promise!

Bargain Buys

Annoying day today so did the completely rational thing of power shopping on my lunch break to improve my day.

Got these blush shorts from sportsgirl
Got these feathered earrings from Dotti

and a grey boyfriend blazer from Dotti which I couldn't find a pic of.
...Random question, does anyone know why some of my post titles are grey and some blue? I just want grey but it seems to be a little kooky.

Sunday Sunday

Seeing I can't take any proper outfit photos because my %$^# lens on my camera is broken I thought I would post a few quick snaps of a pretty lazy Sunday.

We went to breakfast at Jackies which I really like because I can twist the man's arm into checking out the paddo shops after.

Hiding behind my coffee in a Scanlan and Theodore top, French Connection Blazer and Gucci Sunnies.

The man's ridiculous "Movember" moustache

Went to the Aus Centre for Photography, if you are a local and have a chance you must check out Stephen Dupont's Afganistan exhibition, just incredible.

Went to Josh Goot to check out that dress again, its a bit more fitted around the waist than I feel comfortable in (maybe I just need some spanx) but the print is so amazing I love it.  HINT XMAS PRESENT HINT

By the way moved into the new place and I love my new wardrobe so much I have decided to exclusively live in there and never come out.

Skirt and Stuff

I have been lusting over (I hate it when people say that but I can't think of an appropriate alternative) this Karla Spetic skirt for so long. Its so cute and quirky but I am on a spending ban because we are moving  Saturday! I need to figure out a way to sneak it into my wardrobe with the man noticing but I dont think this is possible as the skirt isnt really an undercover stealthy design.

On an exciting note the new place (same apartment building just higher up and bigger) has a walk in wardrobe! So so excited! Currently my clothes reside in the built in wardrobe in the main bedroom, a chest of draws, a free standing wardrobe that sits awkwardly in the living area and the built in wardrobe in the spare room as well as a free standing shoe rack.

I went to check out the apartment last weekend and just stood in the wardrobe the whole time taking pictures.

Here, take my card.

A while ago I asked my brother to make me some cards as I had really good intentions about photographing people on the street in cool outfits and giving out the card instead of telling them the blog address. I got them the other day and even though I have no idea what I am going to do with 200 of these I love them because they are so cute!
